When you use SeaVU you support your community in these ways:

By providing a stabilizing effect. SeaVU is a currency that only circulates locally. Keeping money local creates a multiplier effect that supports and strengthens the smaller local economy and makes our community more resistant to downturns in the global economy. More local commerce means more local independent businesses.

By creating more wealth. Small local businesses are the largest employer in the nation and in our community. When a currency is focused in a region, local businesses thrive. Because SeaVU creates a new free market, it mobilizes underutilized goods and services, and gives individuals a safe way of trying out new income sources, creating more wealth in the community.

By preserving community character. The diversity of independent and unique local businesses supported by SeaVU contributes to community character. The unique character of a community can also attract tourists, bringing more wealth into the community. Increasingly, local businesses compete for local wealth by supplying goods and services in direct response to local interests, needs, and concerns.

By building relationships. People with SeaVU in their pockets have incentive to spend locally. Because the exchange is happening between neighbors, and between people who support local economy, personal interactions when purchasing locally are more likely to be social interactions in addition to commerce. This type of interaction is many times more likely to lead to repeat customers.

By working for the community. SeaVU is a member-directed currency. Using SeaVU and working together we can create community-run affordable health care and childcare, youth and elderly services, and many of the other social services that are being cut from the federal budget. Or we can start a revolving loan program to help with meaningful projects. It's all up to us.
